Monica Cook - explore of sculpture, photography, and movie.

I had a chance to visit Monica Cook studio. It is amazing of how she built her own character for her stop motion animation. Using all possible material as well as combined no traditional material to create art, Monica Cook has create her own movie with her own characters.

Animation and graphic motion

The video mention about the benefit of animation and briefly the history of it. The animation has inspired the graphic motion which is one of the trend in the technology era.

Surrealist painters are who can express themselves with the new techniques which breaks all the rules of traditional painting.
Surrealists are artists who express their unconscious mind as poetry, writing, and painting. Influenced directly by Dadaism and Cubism, Surrealism is the combination of naturalistic or organic with realistic or geometric. With the ideas has been hidden in the subconscious mind, the artists use the
lines and simplified images of the objects to speak their mind.

Joan Miro was one of the surrealists. He has left all the rules of painting behind to archive something that is more original.

 This Animation movie is amazing. It's the combination of Music and Stop Motion. The music has the important role in the movie. without music, the movie would not interesting. The music and sound make the movie more realistic.

I like the storyline. It is simple but appropriate with the locations where the picture was illustrated. The scale of the animation is huge which is another factor to make this movie incredible. The scale of the picture make the project noticeable.

The white paint of the illustration can cover the graffiti on the wall which is renew as the same time. It can be consider as community service.




If this is the real music video, the animation has gotten all the attention of me than the music. I like the sequence and transitions of the animation. The color that used to illustrate  the animation are beautiful. the video is colorful; however, in each scene, there are just one or two contrasting color are used which is highly graphical.



It's amazing how the animation movie industry has improved. I wonder how fascinating people were when they watch the Felix the cat, the moving animation.
Technology has bring to the world all amazing things. Because of technology, the art not only can be reproduced but also improved. Artist always create something better, creative. they strive to achieve something that make viewers satisfied, surprised, an unspeakable.

I am not a huge fan of animation, but I am impress with the animation movie I saw. They are amazed me, and sometimes I wonder how can they do it.

Creative mind never stop creating.

Snow White and the Seven Drafts

The movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in the 1937 of Walt Disney not only is the first animated movie but also reflects the influence of the Art and Crafts movement. In the video, I notice that in the first half of the processing of the movie, story lines, drawings, director, music composers are men who get to do the thinking. Meanwhile, the women can do the aesthetic and detailed job, which is coloring the drawing and copy to the film. the role of a woman has changed during the Art and Crafts Movement.

When I was young, I was fascinated with the name of the seven dwarfs. Before watching the animation Snow White and the Seven Drafts, I had known about the story but did not know the drafts have names. In the story that I listen to, it just mentioned the dwarfs as a dwarf or numbered dwarf. when I know the name of the seven dwarf, the story was more interesting to me, and I pay more attention to the dwarf to scrutinize their actions which indicated by their names.

The stage has change the perspective of people toward the "black people" who have talent as same as the "white people". They are funnies, talented, and they proved that on stage. they can do whatever the whites can do. Therefore, when the "black performers" have their own show, the Mistrelshow was faded.
For me, the entertaining industry has an important role in changing the life of African American not only in America but also in show business. the stage is where "black performers" can show the world their words, their personality, and their dreams.
If there was no Mitrel Show, maybe the "black people" would not have opportunity to perform on stages, and America would not discover talented AfricanAmerican performers.

The butterfly appear whenever the lady meets the gentlemen as if it is the witness for their Love. The animation has depict the action of the character naturally. Especially, the scene when the lady waiting for her fly-Away-husband to come back, she is Stand-waiting to Sit-waiting. She acts like a child waiting for time pass by with nothing to do. Just waiting...

At the end,  she riping off her face and her skin, breaking off her limbs to destroy herself. The butterfly appear again in the last scene as if it is stat all over again.

If the person does not appreciate herself, no one would bother to care for her.

Baroque resemblance - Branding give away

This video makes me think of one of the giveaway scenes in the Baroque period movies which the audiences are very excited. They are happy when they can fulfill their need ( food) and their want ( more food).

Nowadays, TV shows give away not food but goods which they can keep their number of viewers who are satisfied with their need ( goods) and their want ( more goods). However, there is addition to the give away feature that is the branding. The companies use the TV shows to advertise their products by giving away, also the companies can keep their good reputations. The audiences are more  happy when they receive products from well-known brands than other brands.

Overall, we are live in the culture is similar to the Baroque of Seventeenth century, but our culture has more features, such as technology( internet) and marketing which can  gather more people and widely spread information.
